When getting braces fitted for the first time or having the brackets and wires tightened, it's totally natural to feel sore or uncomfortable. The pressure required to shift the teeth enough for the braces to function most often results in pain or discomfort. Braces' wires, brackets, and rubber bands do not hurt, but the application, tightening, and removal processes can irritate oral tissues. The initial procedure will take a few hours, and once the wires are secured in place, you may feel some tightening on the teeth. While placing the brackets is painless, having your mouth open for such a prolonged period of time might be painful. At your follow-up session, which usually occurs every two months or so, your orthodontist will adjust and tighten the braces; this process frequently feels solid, pressing, or stretching rather than painful. You can feel a little uncomfortable after having grown accustomed to wearing braces for so long when your treatment is over and you attend your final appointment to get your braces taken off. Although strange, this sensation is not unpleasant.
